C-section booked

Tomorrow the c-section is booked for noon. Today we did another ultrasound to see how Mongo is doing - all was great! Due to there only being one pup, there is not enough oxytocin released to start labour, and if you wait to long the pup can die.
I've waited too long, and spent too much to not to take a proactive approach to this pup!
I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Week 5.5 pictures

Okay! I finally was a good girl and took some pictures!!  The first is of Envy tonight, completely unimpressed that I was making her down-stay for pictures.
Of course try to make her lay still when a camera is out and flashing!
Here is her tummy tonight...
and her tummy soon after the implant surgery...
Pup(s) are due March 4th 2009.  I promise to ever more vigilant on posting more pictures, so that I won't catch flack!!

Ultrasound Results

We had our appointment with the vet Dr Anita today....she was the same vet who ultrasounded all the other kids from the last litter.
The good news - WE HAVE KIDS!!
The bad news is, that right now it doesn't look like there are more then two, and even that is unsure because Envy is rather ticklish when being ultrasounded, which made it near impossible to get the perfect pictures.

So I am pleased to announce the first pictures of this up coming litter -
Can you see the puppy?  It's the alien looking thing, inside the black bubble...
At this point until puppy(s) are on the ground, please, please don't get your hopes up.  Many things can go wrong and I would rather focus on a healthy pregnancy!

Ultrasound Appointment

Envy's ultrasound appointment is on Tuesday February 3rd, at 2pm.
Hopefully I will get some good photos to post.
I'm feeling hopeful!

Happy Birthday Duke!!

Can't you tell Tonka was so impressed that her son turned 8 years today?
I guess when you are 11 years old, 8 seems like a young whipper-snapper!
Here is Duke a 8 years old, he got a steak for dinner!

Change of Plans

What weird weather!!  We have had a series of non stop blizzards, that as you can see, have made things a bit more difficult! LOL
The girls can barely walk the snow is so deep!
This is a picture of our front yard through the window, the morning we were supposed to take Envy in for her surgical AI...
...and another of the back yard...
Our fences are about 5 feet high, and you can see that they are quickly getting to the point of being able to walk over the snow drifts!

The vet phoned us yesterday morning and told us that the lab had screwed up, so we didn't go in the the surgical AI until today....still snowing!  Semen looked great in the microscope - even trying to implant an air bubble.  So now we wait....I hate waiting.

SX AI Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day. Envy (Ch Diamond Danes Heavenly Sin) will go in and be surgically A.I.'d with frozen semen from Am Cnd Ch MiHi's A Starz' Born.
If we were so blessed to have puppies it would be a Brindle/Fawn litter expected around
March 4th 2009.

The waiting game happens now - and as many of you know, I suck at the waiting game! LOL

The start of Litter #2

So the big question of the day is who am I going to be breeding Envy to - the boy that I actually have tried to breed her to before,

DUKE! (Am Can Ch MiHi's A Starz Born)

Pictures here at one month shy of 8 years old and his fantastic Mom Tonka, who is 11 years...can you tell I'm going for longevity here??
I haven't show stacked this dog in about 5 years and he did it wonderfully for me as though we came off the show circuit yesterday!  All his health testing can bee seen at www.offa.org and typing in his registered name.
I took Envy in to start the progesterone testing - here we go again!!

Merry Christmas says Envy

It seems that Envy was trying to make this Christmas memorable by coming into heat!  So the progesterone tests start on boxing day and go from there.
I'll keep you posted as the numbers come in!

Tradex Day One/two

The kids had there first dog show and did amazing! Thursday Lorek was a trooper and wanted to show his sister up by taking the Best Of Winners, for his first point! I'm not sure if they did so well because of all my stacking on blocks or because they had their own entourage of 7 people! (Thanks to Sandy, Kat, Katie, Bill, Lynn, and Ellie.)

Friday was a good day but our entourage was down to Kim and Lynn! We didn't do anything in the ring today but the other puppies were much older. Not that it matters to either Lorek or Lara, but strutted their stuff and got lots of lovely comments from the judge about how much fun we will have in the ring with these two and that he love the continuity of the two!

Tomorrow we are on super early in the am, so I may come home and sneak a nap!

I'll post pictures when I get to go through them.

Happy Birthday Tonka!!

Today
Can Int'l Ch Lincoln's Tonka Toy, CGC, TT, TDI
(aka Tonka, Fat-ass & Tonka-nator)
turned 11 years old today!!

She had a blueberry muffin (her favorite when it has extra blueberries in it) that I baked this morning for her.

Tonka will happily accept belated birthday gifts, especially if they are treats, or toys.

5.5 months old

Lorek (MiHi's I've Got The Power)
Getting ready for Tradex!
He was sure that I should be feeding him more cheese!

Lara (MiHi's Powerful Phenomenon)

If her face looks a tad strange it's because it was all I could do to hold her back as the cat was taunting her on the fence!

I would post everyone else's stacked photos if they sent me any! HINT HINT!

Poor Tonka

So poor old Tonka might have Vestibular (I call it Turning Yak disease).  As of this morning she has a serious lean to the right and can barely walk.  Vestibular has several different ways it can manifest itself, the most common is through infection or swelling (trauma) to the spine (the vestibula is under the jaw, but part of the spine).  The vet seems to think that when Tonka was attacked it compressed the nerves in her neck which is causing the signals between her brain and body to short-circuit.  We have sent blood work to the lab, which should tell us tomorrow for sure what type of vestibular it is.  Hopefully as soon as we know she can go on either antibiotics or steroids to help everything out.
Mean while if you see pictures of her standing at very odd angles, give an old lady a break!

Heavy Heart

It is with a very heavy heart that I let you know that one of Tonka's daughters, Skylar, was helped over the Rainbow Bridge by her family, due to cancer. Skylar would have been nine years old in January and is the first of my litters to pass away.

My deepest sympathy to Skylar's family.

Michele's World

I was having a 'moment' and thought I would open a window into Michele's world.

Don't visit it if any of the following applies to you:

1. You don't like dogs.
2. You don't like me.
3. Your really weird and you really dislike both me and my dogs together.
4. Odd things and people scare you.
5. You feel that political correctness is not strong enough and more censorship should happen.
6. I've told you I dislike you.
7. You think that I should be committed by men in white coats (this blog might give you the loop hole you were looking for).
8. You think shaving a dog pig-bald looks good.
9. I've dated and dumped you.
10. You don't have a sense of humour.
11. Don't want to hear about boobs. (If you have to ask, your not ready to know)
12. You're on a heart or blood pressure medication.
13. Don't like people pushing your buttons.
14. You don't want to open your mind to Michele's world.
15. If you can't accept that I see things very differently then most people, and hope that one day people can just accept me for what I am - Me.

13 weeks Lorek

Lorek had a chance to air his ears. Boy is this a nice crop,  thanks to Dr. Zwamborn!!
We had both Lara and Lorek at the Nikl's house playing with the agility course and socializing with the Shepherds and Min Pin.
I had my camera but didn't think of taking more pictures then these.
Darcy has nearly perfected the stacking rig (we have a loose magnet so the epoxy has to set), so hopefully very shortly (by the end of today) we will have stacked pictures of the kids!!
