After a phone call from the Veterinarian today's progesterone is 5.6 ng/ml drawn at 9:30am. The one before drawn on May 28th was 3.1ng/ml......so at this point Saturday is the day for the surgical insemination, but we will continue to progesterone test to make sure.
The current school of thought is that 5 ng/ml = day of ovulation, eggs mature 2 days after ovulation and live for 2-3 days. The trick is that frozen semen only stays alive for 12-24 hours once thawed. One company states that the progesterone needs to be 9.5-10 ng/ml to breed...but who the heck really knows!!
All I am sure of is that the Ultrasound happens 28 days after the surgical implant, so circle the June 29-30th on your calendar for when we should know along with checking back regularly for pictures of tummy progress.
